for the first time this season Bayern didn't fell asleep for the first 15 mins of second half, instead they fell asleep for the WHOLE OF THE SECOND HALF!

Ribery shud have been awarded a pen earlier but its been yet another poor defensive show and this does nothing but ends of streak :@ :@

anyways this was one game where losing didn't matter that much, bayern should still top the group given the great GD!

What in heaven’s name is going on??? What was that stroke of genius of Van Gaal to take Muller and Ribery out, Roma could concentrate totally on their attack after that. What a F:ck, I’m so angry and disappointed!!!

In analysing the 2nd half.... What VG missed was introducing an additional defender right at the beginning of the second half (parking the bus tactic !) As tiered and injured as the team is.... asking your players to push forward or hold the ball is suicidal.... so is playing a high offside line and chasing the speedy Roma forwards... VG always refuses to change tactitcs...!! He plays one way and one way only ! I wonder how long Beckenbauer will tolerate seeing a coach making repetitive judgement mistakes.... yes he has helped Bayern but he has hurt as well. So beyond the end of this year would be pushing the VG project way too much.... If he is to stay, he needs to cooperate and learn to abide by what the management expects or does not expect.... I see him on a hot seat. Except if he delivers the champions league somehow this season !!

I watched the entire match and I have to say that even if the best coach would remove Mueller and Ribery towards the end of the match as this is an excess match for us with Bundesilga being the top priority for us right now. So I do agree with this arrangement.

However, playing Pranjic on right side, was the wrong and extreme wrong approach. He continues to use left foot player on the right and visa verse. Altintop clearly played much better on the right side as well as Pranjic on the left, but he continues to ignore that.

Defense is again horrible. Kraft is young so I cant blame much for the penalty because he did save us a few times before that. Otherwise, all the others- Lahm, Van Buyten, Demichelis, Pranjic, Contento, Tymoshchuk and Ottl are way too slow against Roma's attack leaded by Menez. If our defenders are a bit faster, the first two goals can be avoided easily. For the first ball conceded, we have basically 4-5 defenders/players on our field and Roma has only 2.

am gutted, yet again the team went to sleep in the early minutes of the second half !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Demichelis, Van Buyten and Pranjic are all at fault at those three goals as well as Ottl and Kroos losing the ball in midfield. I start thinking that Van Gaal has basically lost some faith and trust within the player. Ribery, Tymoshchuk, Altintop and Demichelis had openly critized Van Gaal and his tactic

@ bbjtin - at this point the players really have no fault!! The coach and managers are the only ones to blame - they didn't transfer new players, they kept the existing weak players and they don't have any new strategy and tactics for the team so... GO AWAY MR VAN GAAL AND TAKE NERLINGER WITH YOU !

My Good Friends It was a tactical loss.... Don't put the blame on the players.... I also have stopped aggressive criticism for good ... because a calmer tone is always needed when really looking for solutions :))

Yet I am just calling things as they are.... Oh well, it is just a loss.
And the next match will be a better match for FC Bayern

PS: if Milou Demichelis is truly going to Inter, we are handing them on a silver plate one of the best defensive partnerships in the past.... Lucio -Demichelis remember that !

@ Sari - Micho is a disaster, but bayern has been on a losing tactical system for a long time now and that reflects in all the goals other teams score vs bayern, the lack of victories and the lack of improvement in the team's performance .. so its all van Gaal's fault !!

Van Gaal tactic obviously has many wrongdoings on our team. He forced every player to do small passes even defenders instead of clearing a long ball. But players like Ottl and Van Buyten are basically unable to do small passes unless there is no pressure from opponents. With high pressure pressing, many of Bayern players are unable to deliver nice/clear passes. Therefore, with interception, opponents can play a few through balls to destroy our slow defensive line

A good display against Basel at home. Bayern is playing much better football at home this season than away trip. If Bayern doesnt improve their away form, there is almost no way that Bayern will win any title.

point noted, Bayern's away form leaves a lot to be desired, then again, since Bayern have topped the group the next round will be cormfy as in the 1st leg is away.

If we could draw that 1st leg, then things will be brighter.

have seen the list teams that finished second in their groups, man, apart from copenhagen, the rest are no easy sides.

We have been poor this year and defensivly, yet again very poor, even against Basil. No direspect to Basil but they are hardly a Barca, Real or Chelsea, Man U and they caused a lot of problems initially and Kraft kept us square which in my mind gave us the platform to go and win the game. If we had gone 1, maybe 2 down that would have really caused us problems both in winning the game but also with confidence.

It's obvious we need to invest in some top class defenders and hope that Robben returns soon.

Really unsure why a top class team doesn't strengthen it's self which is where we are having problems this year. No quality in depth. Giving the way we are playing I cant see a final this year !

I will be quite happy to see Bayern getting into the semi's because we dont have the quality to get into the semi's based on today's squad and form.

I hope Bayern gets Lyon, Copenhagen or Valencia

how about a revenge against Inter?

It is quite lucky that we could avoid the like of Real, Barcelona or Chelsea in the last 16. Seriously, I think with this backline, there is almost no way that we could have a chance against even Arsenal, Inter or AC Milan right now especially in our away match. We could easily lost 2-3 goals if not more. If Bayern doesnt do serious shopping during winter period, I am afraid that we could be exiting at the knockout stage
