Champions League

  • Udinese lost Inler, Zapata and Sanchez. The toughest opponent would have been Rubin Kazan (already very busy in competition, long trip to Russia). At home 3-0 or 4-0, in the return some reserve players and rest for the others.

  • agree with you chrisco, but knowing italian teams they are always up for the fight, and especially regarding the co-efficients.... as for rubin kazan i think that would have been the mort scary one, apart from long trip they play on artificial grass which would make our players get exhausted more quickly as they`re not used to play on that type of pitch... had already saw this some time ago... thank gos its summer !! imagine in knockout stages or group stages havign to play in russia in december !!

  • Both Udinese and Rubin Kazan would be much tougher than FC Zurich, so I would say that we have one of the easiest opponents. I think we can reach the group stage easily

  • Bayern vs FC Zurich
This is probably the best draw that we could get. In a sense, we are lucky, but as you can see from Bundesilga's open, we could lose against Gladbach at home. That means there is a possibility that we could lose too, so please dont underestaimte FC Zurich

I think Bayern can win both legs comfortably, however, to win Champion League, we need to get more quality in attack as Mueller isnt hitting his best form and Ribery/Robben are often injuried.

  • great display from bayern today...defence was good midfield was good attack wasnt bad but gomez looses LOTS of chances...at least he gave that pass to robben for that BEAUTY though :D

  • Overall we have won the match, but not as much as we would like because we have created so many chances and didnt score enough.

The backline is solid and Lahm did pick up his form a lot today compared to his earlier display in Bundesilga. Boateng and Badstuber remain solid as well as Neuer.

Gustavo is great in disturbing the flow and great tackle but did little providing killer assist up front. Schweinsteiger, like Lahm, picked up form against Zurich.

Ribery and Robben are great, but again, due to their often injuries, Bayern needs to find some quality backup because neither Kroos, Usami nor Alaba can replace either one of them

Kroos proved again that he has failed Bayern's expectation and Mueller is much better playing behind the striker. Gomez's first touch again... his first touch is so poor that he has to do so much more work to correct the ball before launching a shot.

  • I think Ribery was our brightest spot in attack. Lahm also was good. Robben was litle bit enigma to me yesterday, one goal and one assist is of course brilliant result but..., I don't know. Kroos was disappointment. Muller gave more tempo to our game.

  • In a couple of years Gustavo will be seen as a bargain. He has everything to be one of the best players in the world on his position. He already showed his class last season when he had to play a different position every week (especially against Inter where Sneijder didn't see a ball).

And Müller in form has more to offer then Kroos. Kroos is too much similar with Schweinsteiger. 1 player who slows the game is enough, 2 is too much. Müller gives Gomez also more support up front.

  • That is true, Gustovo was real destroyer! I red that Robben still have that back problem, so, maybe that was the awkwardness I sensed from his game.

  • I really hope that the coach will decide to play Olic instead of Gomez against HSV and also replace Kroos with Petersen so we'll see a 4-4-2

    0

  • I kind of understand these 4-4-2 demands, but there is big problems in this system for our material also, and I think one of the biggest problems is how to get Robery to defend.

    0

  • @ jkuusela - according to yesterday's game the problem is to have Gomez score and in a 4-4-2 with Olic and Muller/Petersen Ribery and Robben would have far more flexibility in moving around and going for goal than to just deliver long balls into the box for Gomez to fumble

    0

  • when there`s the the need both robben & ribery go to defend...the real problem is they are not good defenders i think ;-) as for gomez i think its just a matter of time now until he starts scoring... he`s VERY VERY near... if you saw yesterday`s match he could have easily scored at least 2 lol im not worried about him

    0

  • after watching that performance i dont think we will get very far in the champions league we are miles behind the big guns of europe im afraid

    0

  • As I have said, even with every player healthy, it is already very difficult as both Ribery and Robben dont even have a series of matches to get back to normal physical level.

I dont think we are much behind the English, like Man Utd and Chelsea or AC Milan and Inter. But we are definitely behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.

I hope the board can sign another creative winger to at least give our bench a lot more depth

  • We won 3-0 on aggregate....

well, in today's match... it was not so great performance...
so many chances we lost due to our slight reluctance over the entire match..

My comment may seem a little harsh,, but I felt like it..
It could have been a 0-3 away victory if we had given our 100%... ?? ??

    0

  • But one thing really makes me feel good..

Petersen seems to be a standard player that I thought about him before... :)

Boateng needs to be more perfect... Gustavo is okay. Müller needs to be much more skilled than he's now... ??

  • good performance today, it looked obvious bayern didnt want to attack or play offensively... i like that bayern are playing well in defence.... also looks like gomez got his touch in front of goal yet again and ribery got his style back :D
