finally i've seen "the perfect match" in Villareal..really fantastic game by our Team!! Only one question to Jupp : why not Rafinha from the start??
Champions League

I think is because Heynckes want to grab at least one point from the match, so he adopts a much defensive approach with Van Buyten and Tymoshchuk because both Rafinha and Gustavo tends to be more aggressive than the inital two.
-
I'm worried with Van Buyten's injury. Breno is also out, so i fear we'll have to play Tymo/Gustavo out of position again.
-
Exactly, thats why we need more quality in central defender role as Van Buyten is starting to get into injury too often in the past two seasons as well as Breno. So we basically have two healthy proper central defender
-
Van Buyten's injury is a blessing in disguise, coz whenever Boateng plays in his place, Bayern are much tighter at the back. I think Bayern will miss Gomez more than they will miss Van Buyten.
Bayern definitely need to buy another central defender.
All in all, what impressed is the way the team went on the business despite loosing Van Buyten & Gomez.
-
True. Van Buyten is way too slow for Champion League. He got exposed once or twice against Villarreal.
-
An article from Goal.com and basically says Bayern is the best in form team in Europe at the moment and I have agree on that.
-
After watching Napoli defeated AC Milan, I think Napoli would be the team to beat in our Champion League group. Although Man City has the biggest stars, they arent as good as a team as Napoli to my opinion
-
Agree with you bbjtin......
Napoli has truly a nice team work....
-
Man City would be a difficult team to beat and they have been unbeatable in Premiership too. They are one of the best team in Premiership which I considered them much better than Liverpool and Arsenal now. So I would say that Man City would be at the same level as Man Utd and Chelsea
-
We were lucky but we have a Great Result at the end of first half 2-0.
The Referee was not up to the match.
There was at least one penalty kick for Manchester city.
-
I am so happy! And now it's official: Franck is back!!
-
And about us being lucky: Bayern 2-0 Man City / possession 54%-46% / total attempts 21-10 / corners 3-1 / fouls committed 11-20 / yellow cards 0-4 / offsides 0-0
-
Great result for Bayern & excellent performance specially in the second half.
Bad unprofessional attitude from Manchester players (Dzeko & Tevez who was not willing to play).
-
Overall, Bayern has completely dominated the match, but again, in the 20-25mins of the game, the match was pretty even between us and was lucky on one or two occasions. But obviously, Bayern is able to stand their gounds and dominated there after
-
utterly brilliant, 10 games, all wins without conceding a goal.
-
Bayern is probably the best form team in Europe right now; however, Rummenegge is right that trophy doesnt hand out until May. So we need to work hard for the next few months in order to actually achieve something
-
Napoli vs Bayern Munich (Pre-match)
Bayern sent out the same team as they were against Hertha Berlin with both Van Buyten and Tymoshchuk starting instead of Rafinha and Gustavo.
I can understand that Heynckes wants to play safe with Tymoshchuk having more defensive skill set than Gustavo. However, Rafinha would be a much better right defender than Boateng as Van Buyten might get caught by the in-form Cavani

Napoli vs Bayern Munich 1-1 (Half time)
I think 1-1 is a pretty fair result although Bayern has more opportunities than Napoli. Napoli did play well especially on their counter attack. Although the goal conceded is somewhat unlucky, Bayern's defense weakness did completely expose.
If opponent playing long ball, it would be difficult for either Van Buyten, Badstuber or Lahm to catch them as they have been very slow in terms of pace. The goal was completely conceded due to the lack of speed of both Lahm and Badstuber
