i think its time to start playing an olic-gomez attack again...one attacker cant deal with 4 defenders at once, or like yesterday 6 against gomez in the box xD

i am afraid our defence is just not up to it rafinha is to small badstuber slow how much longer do we have to wait for world class defenders

I think there are a few problems in Bayern that were solved in recent seasons.

1). Defence. Bayern was always proud of the German players coming through their own rank like Schweinsteiger, Lahm, etc. Badstuber is being one of them after promoted to first team by Van Gaal. Badstuber has huge talent on his first season because nobody expects him to hold a regular berth at Bayern. After three seasons, the main problem is that Badstuber never improved as a player. He is way too slow for Bayern. He is superb at reading play, but his tackle and marking skill are too poor for a modern defender. But because he came through Bayern's rank, he is likely not to be dropped until he failed again next few seasons.

2). Attack. Yes, Gomez is a worldclass striker when he is the penalty box and space. However, when opponent comes up against Bayern, they often close down the space. As I have said many times that due to his lack of technique skill, his first touch is too poor to hold the ball upfield. His passes never improved either as you have seen from recent matches.

3). Kroos. Although all these praises, Kroos remains the same player as he was 12 months ago to me. He is way too slow in making passes in midfield. And he shouldnt be the player behind striker as he never gets in the penalty box that leaves only Gomez the only target for opponents to mark. In that way, there is no way Bayern is going to score. Kroos doesnt have the technique to dribble past players so his passes are often backward or sideway and that will slow the play and make opponents much easier to mark Gomez and the other players out

correct i totaly agree. i can see bayern scoring a couple of goals against basle but i fear basle have the firepower to get at least 1

i dont think the real problem for our defence isnt the defence exaclty, i mean with rafinha, boateng, badstuber and lahm isnt a bad defence....in my opinion the defence is having problems from when van buyten got injured...this season he was very stable, and also he`s the only bayern player which can get a good header of the ball, in my opinion the real problem is the central midfield...without schwiensteiger central midfield isnt capable of defending well, if one sees yesterday`s match in the first 20-35 mins basel players could send a through pass from the middle of the pitch and the ball would go directly in front of our box... i mean if the midfield doesnt help our defence, its obvious the defence is going to have a hard time. our problem is the formation i think....we use a 4-2-3-1 formation were the holding midfielders are usually schweinsteiger & gustavo/tymo...our real midfielders are only 2, which means if other teams attack us on the break we`ll be outnumbered for sure....

There are also a few problems that Bayern should look at: our conversion of freekicks and corners. We used to be a dangerous team at set-pieces;however, since Van Gaal comes on board, we rarely focus on set-pieces. Set-pieces is a powerful opportunity to break deadlock situation. However, I dont see Bayern scoring many goals from corners or freekicks for the past few seasons

Our only player which can score from corners is Van Buyten, while our only players which can score from a freekick are robben & ribery (which i dont see them able to score freekicks anymore)

Robben isnt the same Robben as the past two seasons and Ribery isnt as sharp as he was in the first half of the season. Mueller has been limited in his role this season and didnt have the chance to fully contribute himself to the team. Gomez is useless without player's support.

I would love to see Olic starting today, coz honestly speaking, Gomez is having a bad bad time. Olic is more skillfull.

Olic isnt as powerful as Gomez but his passes and work rate is much higher. The problem of Gomez is that he sometimes wasted easy opportunities just like against Schalke. He should have scored at least a goal given all these opportunities. But with his physical ability, he sometimes is able to out-muscle defenders to the ball and score some easy touches

i would like to see Gomez, Ribery, Robben Muller, all benched, coz they have alot more than what they are offering!! even Neure is not doing a great great job! lately the only player who got back to his great level was Lahm! Tymo should have a starting role and is much better than Alaba and Gustavo. Lahm should go back to the right back and we should see Pranjic on the LB, u cant judge a player and keep him out the whole season before u try him for 90 minutes! just like Olic.

It is quite funny that some of our star players arent playing as good as Heynckes and the board think they are. This again proves that the board makes another mistake during winter window of not enhancing the squad in depth and quality

Heynckes didn't want to buy anyone during the winter break and although Pranjic wanted to leave he still wouldnt let him go and yet the guy cant get any playing time. I think Heynckes has burned the team out by trying to field the same players game after game.I also think he treated that Japanese guy unfairly , a guy with his abilities is what bayern needs right now because that boring passing game and then switching the ball from wing to wing and then a poor cross sucks.

I mean we have a bunch of players which Heynckes doesnt use them like Petersen, Usami, Pranjic, Contento, Breno, etc, and even Olic are used very seldomly. Heynckes only used 15 players here- first elevan, Alaba, Van Buyten, Gustavo and Kroos. Thats the problem. For a team to compete in all three competition, Bayern needs to have at least 18-20 good players in the team and not 15 players. We are still 4-5 players short in terms of quantity and not counting quality.
