The NextGen is back.
How you guys heard about it? Well, here's the thing.
The NextGen Series is a European football club cup competition for under-19 footballers. It is similar in form to the UEFA Champions League and will provide a competition for youth players an opportunity to play other young European footballers.
FC Bayern should join this tournament as well. But not next season since the group stages for 2012/2013 has been drawn. Maybe the next season after that. Last season, which was the first season of it being held, Liverpool FC got the third place. By the way, the defending champion now is Inter Milan.
Juventus FC, Chelsea FC, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal FC, CSKA Moscow, RSC Anderlecht, Olympiacos, Borussia Dortmund, Athletic Club and 15 clubs from last season who will all compete for the coveted NextGen Trophy. The tournament has proven a huge success in its first year, providing Europe’s finest youth talent with a solid platform on which to hone their skills in a competitive international environment.
The NextGen Series 2012/13 will include all of last year’s participants - excluding FC Basel who elected to withdraw from the upcoming season - alongside nine new clubs.
The six Groups for the NextGen Series 2012/13 are:
Group One - FC Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, , Vfl Wolfsburg, RSC Anderlecht.
Group Two - Manchester City FC, Juventus Football Club, Paris Saint-Germain, Fenerbahce.
Group Three - Chelsea FC, AFC Ajax, CSKA Moscow, Molde FK.
Group Four - Sporting Clube de Portugal, Celtic FC, Aston Villa FC, PSV Eindhoven.
Group Five - Liverpool FC, Borussia Dortmund, Internazionale, Rosenborg BK.
